Where ITCM fits
Anywhere a device can tell you something is wrong, and someone needs to act on it. Here are examples of what ITCM makes possible.
Example use cases
Each one follows the same pattern: a signal comes in, the right work goes out and, where useful, a command goes back to the device.
-
Factory
Machine health monitoring
- Signal
- Vibration on a pump rises above its normal range.
- Workflow
- A maintenance work order is raised against the pump’s asset record, with recent readings attached.
- Output
- Optional: the pump is switched to a standby unit.
-
Warehouse
Cold storage protection
- Signal
- A cold room stays above 4 °C for ten minutes.
- Workflow
- An urgent facilities incident is raised and the shift manager is notified.
- Output
- Optional: a backup cooling unit is switched on.
-
Facilities
Building services
- Signal
- A water leak sensor triggers in a server room.
- Workflow
- A priority incident goes to facilities and IT, linked to the room and the equipment inside it.
- Output
- Optional: a solenoid valve closes the water supply.
-
Utilities
Remote site monitoring
- Signal
- A remote pumping station loses mains power.
- Workflow
- A field service task is created for the nearest crew, with the site’s location and history.
- Output
- Optional: non-essential loads are shed to save battery.
-
Fleet
Vehicle and equipment alerts
- Signal
- A delivery vehicle reports an engine fault code.
- Workflow
- A maintenance request is booked and the dispatcher is told to plan around the vehicle.
- Output
- Optional: the driver receives instructions on the in-cab display.
-
Data centre
Environmental control
- Signal
- Rack inlet temperature climbs past its threshold.
- Workflow
- An incident is raised against the affected rack and the services it supports.
- Output
- Optional: cooling fans are set to a higher speed.
